welcome

The CETIS Metadata and Digital Repository Special Interest Group has been set up for those in UK Higher and Further Education who are interested in creating, storing and serving educational metadata. The group is a forum for members to share their experiences and knowledge, and support each other. The focus of the group is on how relevant specifications can be used in the Higher and Further Education sectors of the UK.

aims

The aims of the group are to:

  • Provide information on relevant specifications and standards activity
  • Promote uptake of these specifications and standards in UK HE and FE
  • Promote discussion among people using these specifications and standards
  • Provide feedback to developers of future specifications and standards.

activities

Apart from this website, dissemination of information and discussion is via a jiscmail mailing list, see http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/cetis-metadata.html and regular meetings. See the membership section of this website for information on how to join.

The SIG also undertakes various tasks, such as the production of guides explaining metadata standards and specifications, and documenting who is using these standards and how. The outputs from these tasks can be found in the resources section of this website.
