The aim of this group is to track, evaluate and support the UK FE/HE sector's uptake and implementation of educational content interoperability standards. We focus primarily on IMS:
- Content Packaging
- Learning Design
- Simple Sequencing
- plus all other IMS content-related developments.
In addition the SIG monitors related specifications and standards produced by the following agencies: ADL (particularly the SCORM), IEEE, CEN/ISSS, BSI, ISO, AICC, ARIADNE and Prometeus.
Along with the rest of CETIS, the SIG provides support for the JISC e-Learning Framework (ELF). Further information on the framework can be found at:
- The e-Learning Framework website. This site provides information on the framework and tools development, including reference models.
- The JIISC e-Learning focus website. This site provides a non technical overview of the JISC e-Learning Programme.
The SIG meets approximately every three or four months, at venues across the UK. The most recent meeting took place on March 17th, and looked at transformating practice in e-Learning, with a focus on the SFC e-Learning Transformation Projects. Presentations and podcasts from the day are available for download in the past events section.
