The aim of this group is to track, evaluate and support the UK FE/HE sector's uptake and implementation of educational content interoperability standards. We focus primarily on IMS:
In addition the SIG monitors related specifications and standards produced by the following agencies: ADL (particularly the SCORM), IEEE, CEN/ISSS, BSI, ISO, AICC, ARIADNE and Prometeus. Along with the rest of CETIS, the SIG provides support for the JISC e-Learning Framework (ELF). Further information on the framework can be found at:
The SIG meets approximately every three or four months, at venues across the UK. The most recent meeting took place on March 17th, and looked at transformating practice in e-Learning, with a focus on the SFC e-Learning Transformation Projects. Presentations and podcasts from the day are available for download in the past events section. For further information on the EC SIG, contact the EC SIG coordinator: There is also a JISCMAIL discussion forum, which you can join to discuss developments between meetings.
